Title: Autonomous Robotics System for Road Marks Painting in Smart Cities: Challenges, Current and Future Solutions
Abstarct: Road Marks play an important role to highlight the road driving zones, non-driving zones and the directions of driving to the vehicles’ drivers at both day and night times. The current road-marks painting systems are working manually worldwide, using two machines, namely, pre-marker and thermoplastic/cold painting machines. Such machines are led to labor intensive, Zigzag road-marks painting, blocking of the roads during the painting process, frequent adjusting from time to time, and unsafety to the operators. With the proposed autonomous painting system in this paper, it deemed possible to replace the two manual machines by a small vehicular robotic system that uses autonomous navigation system for online road’s features detection, Google maps for determining the type of line marks, deep learning-based expert system for decision making and automatic control system for airless-spray road-marks painting, all without human interference.
